Another thing involved in the wheel decision process would be advertising dollars.

I believe in the previous few years BBTC also was constrained by the use of Michelin spec tires in one size.

Which leads me to another "I wonder why" question. Why is it that open wheel cars appear to run relatively tall-sidewall tires?
I remember someone posting about this once before... they are spec'd at smaller diameter rims to try and keep the speed/handling limits a little more sane

back to the original post... remember that what works for race teams with essentially unlimited budgets and research spending may not (and probably will not!) work on your street car. That's why I run 15's on my ITR. Even have 15" Mazda Millenia rims for autoX and track days b/c they only weigh like 11.5lbs or so and are cheap as hell!

Point of clarification: They changed from BFGoodrich gForce R1's, not Hoosier's.

The WC cars changed last year from Hoosier DOT race tires that almost everyone ran in a 15 in. size to Toyo T1s street tires (Shaved and Buffed). I think that the reason they are running the 17's is to have as little sidewall flex as possible with a street tire. I am sure given the choice it would be back to a 15 in. DOT race tire.

I think many people here missed something and didn't really answer the guy's question. Yes, he needs a bigger sway bar.. BUT his Koni settings are wrong! When I set mine for 25% firm up front I have to set the rear for at least 35% (sometimes 40%) in the rear. The firmer the rear Konis are on my GSR, the less body roll I have. I 've scraped my front spoiler too if I have soft setting in the front and even softer in the rear. You gotta firm up the rear ones!! You will not have this problem again. Just go up to 35-40% in the back or even 50%. Just don't let go of the gas on a sweeper or on a turn because the tail might come around a little, and if you 're not used to it, don't take your foot off the gas on a turn. Setting the rear a little firmer will also give you better handling. Trust me, I 've experimented with almost every single setting combination front & rear. Try this first, and then go out and get a 22mm sway bar. It will make a world of difference.

FWIW, I always run my Konis full soft in the front, full stiff in the rear. Even with my conservative (375/425) spring rates, this makes the car nice and loose. Loose = fast...but it's not for the uninitiated.

VTEConly

Thanks! The car handles ALOT better with WAAAAYYYYYY less sway in the rear. It didnt solve the rubbing in the front but reduced it by ALOT!
I still rub but much less of the time......Best part is im not thinking about getting a rear sway bar anymore....car handles alot better! Thanks!
