is this a good idea for a setup?
i plan on getting into autocrossing in the future, but before i get to deep into building up my hatch, i wanted to know if an h22 swap would help me out or if it would hurt me down the road when it comes to classification. would i be better off with a b18c swap. any feed back from somebody that may currently be running the setup for autocrossing or may have experience with it. any help is greatly appreciated as usual fellas. thanx
thanks for the reply, but now that i am looking at my question and your answer, i realize that i misled you with that question. i meant that question in regards to road racing and not autoxing. sorry bout that. i know that there are some people on the board with that setup.
relax........
"bump" and "ttt" will only get the post ignored.
asnwer is the same as above - the only place to competitively race a hybrid is honda challenge. and then the b18 motor is going to be better than the h22 IMO due to weight and parts availability.

my bust bout the ttt. i aint tryin to be annoying with all that, but ive seen so many of my posts go unanswered due to the the high volume of users on the board. before i know it its on the 3rd page. thanx again for the reply. so my best bet would be to just build up my "d" then?
The reason your questions go unanswered is that you clearly haven't done any research to help you form an educated question. Had you done any research you would have not gotten autocross and road racing mixed up. Also, the question of "what class does my engine swap put me in?" has been covered more then enough times.

First off, listen to RJ. Plus YOU are the most important thing to upgrade when it comes to racing, not your car. Also, lots of info/links here https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=353425 about building a racecar, rules for various race organizations and series, etc, etc, etc.
That outa the way, I still think it would be fun to build a hatch with a lude swap for RR/AX. Just be a pain in the *** to develop the suspension. I have talked to a guy that ran an EK with a Type S swap at Solo II and driver's schools/trackdays, he said it felt much faster than his B out of the corners. I doubt he had any thing other than the butt-dyno to backup his claim though. I would expect it to cost you more money to develop the car of course, because you will be in pioneer territory, not many people track a vehicle like that, you would be on your own picking spring rates, finding a header that fit and made good power in the right place, plus fewer options all the way around on things like LSD's, final drives, engine management, etc. I would do it if I had the money, but.............
You will only have 1-2 classes/places in the whole country you could run the car.
It's not really a good idea, but I say do it anyway. Then let me drive it

thanks for the imput 91 SiKen. good info. i realized that not many people have that set up but i didnt realize that the swap is so limited within the auto-x/road race scene. i fully intended on building up my driving skills. i have looked into evolution school but missed the first session (of many) that was held in my area. so i guess im waiting till next year when they offer it again.
To Geratol: if you werent so concerned with bustin my ***** maybe you would realize i corrected myself when i noticed i MESSED UP. dont talk to me like im the one thats so ignorant when u didnt even bother to answer my question. me mixing up the two have nothing to do with my "research". besides, u post pirate, i didnt even really ask what effen class i was gonna be in. is this how you got your 1241 posts? peace homo

if you continue to shoot an attitude like that back you wont get any help around here.
the problem is this question comes up once a week (if not more often) and has been covered *alot*.
A little research would also go a long way on your part to determine what modifications are allowed in what classes and what your long term goals are with the car.

RJ

step 1.
respect the elder members on the board
step 2.
realize road racing costs more money than you can possible imagine
step 3.
search h22 in civic and you will find they handle like a yacht.
Solution:
buy nice suspension, brakes, and go out there and have some fun!
when you get good, then buy a b series motor and go play in SM, and in honda challenge if you so please

Prozac... well not quite. Way too busy with school lately to exert much effort in flaming the n00bs. Its been non-stop busy busy busy for about 2 months - probably spend 3-4 hrs (on average, often more) a day reading/assignments/projects/etc - and thats just to stay just a bit (1-2 days) behind on everything.
I'll probably lash out one of these days though.

i should nothing but respect for RJ. i was insulted by the other dude that wanted to jump on my *** for no reason. just cuz i dont post doesnt mean im a noob to this site. maybe the forum but not the site. i know how, as well as did perform a search on the topic. everyone is telling me to search topics that arent pertinent to my question (still looking were i asked what class a h22 swap was gonna put me in). some patience on both our parts may have resulted in less bickering (Geratol). i didnt even get aggy until the flamer had to jump in.

That wasnt a flame at all..... just relax.

here's a tip.... you might want to wait more than 13 minutes between one of your posts and jumping back in with a 'ttt'. Call it unfair, but that tells me you haven't hung around this forum long enough to really know how things work. That, a poorly worded initial question, and being defensive back to someone who was not flaming you at all is a sure fire recipe to find a quick exit around here.
If you're just starting out. Start autocrossing with your car in Stock Trim.
Swapping the engine or modifying your car will only make it more difficult to concentrate on driving.
Once you've been driving/racing for a while, what to mod/change will become more clearly defined.
