differences between harnesses????
ok so me and a friend are having a debate he says that hes gonna get some fake sparco harnesses from Philippines and he says that their should be no difference between those and the real four point sparco harness im getting. He tells me that im wasting my money on the four point harness when he can get the ones from Philippines for 60 bucks. Is there a major difference between the ones fake ones and the real 4 point sparco.
BTW im not gonna get the cheap imitation ones from the Philippines this is just to settle a debate between him and i. I know that safety is a major thing to be concerned with that is why im paying the extra cash and buying the real harness.
i just wanna know if hes right or if he is wrong thank you

You won't get that answer here. There's no way to know the quality of a harness by simply knowing its country of origin. The US makes crap harnesses and good harnesses. So does Europe. I'm confident that the Philippines makes crap harness (since anyone can make crap) but they may very well make good ones too. The question is: do they make harnesses with a certification that's recognized in this country? If so, you saved some money on a legal harness. If not, no matter how good or bad the quality, it won't pass tech for any organization that requires harnesses. And IMHO, using the guidelines of the US sanctioning bodies as a basis for a non-required harness (HPDE, SOLO II) is a fine idea as well.

You'll never know for sure the quality and safety of the fake harnesses. I mean they could even have the certification stickers on them and all as I imagine it would be no harder to reproduce those than the Sparco logo.
This is how I look at the whole safety issue.... look at the top racers from any series ie: NASCAR, NHRA, IRL, etc... What brands are they running? I'm not saying brand name is everything, but lets be honest, sponsors and race teams have millions invested in their drivers. Don't you think they would give them the best on the marketplace. I run Crow belts and love them, plus they aren't that expensive.
I have never been one to skimp on safety... I have seen 4 drivers die in my short 22 years and I don't feel like doing the same.
