Default Dataloggers

I am interested in getting a datalogging system for my autocross/track car but have been lost after look at different systems for the past few days. I have already found a large differential in prices and units but Not too much real feedback. I would essentially like to start with a standalone logger with GPS and have the ability to add more sensors later, specifically steering input, shock position, ect.

I would prefer to keep it under 500 initially with just the GPS mapping unit.

Has anybody got any information on something along these lines.

I use maxqdata, with a wired gps unit (better than wireless IMHO), and the cheapest netbook I could find. It works great and you can actually do some analysis on site with the netbook.

Personally I wouldn't find much use for any other inputs besides GPS or accelerometer. I would never want to go into that much detail for anything other than a few national level events. One thing you may not realize is that it may take you 6 months (or more) to really learn how to analyze the data. So there isn't as much of a need for a high end system.

One last thing to consider is what other people local to you are using. Most people in my area all use MaxQ, so we can all trade log files.

I think the Racepak G2x starts at $699. Lots of expandability and I believe they have or were working on sensors for the 2x system too.

Never used Maxqdata but if a lot of people use it, it's probably fairly easy and user friendly. Maxdata maybe a lil limited if you want to add on a lot of sensors?

I have looked at the maxqdata stuff and it looks great if you dont plan on expanding at all. I would really prefer to leave my options open for expansion.

Get whichever one everyone else at the track has so you can compare data.
