All three of my current cars have Comptech on them, and some of my old ones had Comptech parts. I also have sold quite a bit of it in the past..

i have comptech intake, headers, exhaust, and rear sway bar tie bar combo and love all of there products, top notch quality!

 

I had been eyeing their rear sway bar for my '07 Accord, so I immediately ordered it when I heard the news Monday.

I got this e-mail today:

"Dear Mr. (Trackrat)

As you may or may not be aware, Comptech USA is closing its doors and going out of business.

We are unable to fill your order as the parts you requested are out of stock and no longer in production.

granted, there are probably hundreds of people who shop there... there are just better and cheaper products out there.

all you guys blaming the other cheap companys just need to realize this is a case of simple economics.

supply and demand. Comptech couldn't supply goods for a reasonable price, so customers will buy from substitutes (aspec, omni).

there are ways that comptech could have saved themselves, such as lowering the price of their products by making more quantities of them, selling them at prices of their competitors, etc. but without knowing any real reasons why they close, these are just assumptions.

 

I currently have comptech sway bar, comptech race header, and exhaust, and am sad to see them go,

also a ice box

 

A lot of people seem to be making assumptions about a situation they know nothing about. There are a host of other possible explanations, other than cheap competition. For example, maybe the owner(s) wanted to just cash out part of the business. Owners of businesses do this quite often, once the business has been around for a while. Often, they will sell off or shut down and liquidate all or part of the business. This allows them to get some money out and reduce, or eliminate in the case of completely selling or shutting down the business, the time and effort spent managing the business. Having a really big business isn't always advantageous for business owners, depending on their personal situation.

Lets try not to engage in too much speculation and/or make too many assumptions. The only way we will know the real answer is if it comes right from the horse's mouth.

i have a ton...header, exhaust, GSR intake, LS intake, wire cover, oil cap, battery tie down. I just ordered an extra filter for when one of mine takes a crap.
I might just keep buying tell they run out!!!
I always wanted to have all their **** cause its soooo quality!

 

WOW got to love HT.. The company is no longer in existence (parts provider) and the few people who did buy there products take up a whole page to tell the world they are rocking Comptech parts..... BIG ******* DEAL

Ok so a few thousand people have parts produced by this company, and a yes we all know they are quality!!!! So now all of you ballers will have to find the next company with expensive bits a pieces to bling bling yo ridz wit jo.....


But it has been said already in any business you limit you self when you only provide to the high end of you customer base. And if Acura/Honda owners are you customer base your dealing with some broke *** dudes.....

I'm not saying its not a bummer but look it is what it is.... How many good/great companies go out of business every year??? Its a lot'a

I feel more for the people who worked there who lost there jobs. But, there are other companies who make quality parts for 95% of the Honda/Acura line.

And to you guys whos panties are in a bunch over this is it realy that big of a shock??? Its not like they were IBM, or Apple. There advertisement has been on a decline for a while... If you are not in peoples faces you are forgotten. Also they produced parts that are not exactaly wear items... How many $1500 headers can one person buy?

So again I feel for the guys and gals in the parts side that lost there jobs. And on that note I think this horse has been beaten to death about 10X's now.

So should I feel guilty that I have an ASR rear subframe brace?

 

do u guys know if i can still order stuff from them over the phone? i need a hardware kit for a swaybar! i can't piece these things together at the hardware stores

haha me too, Comptech made top notch products! RIP

 

I think Acuras shift towards a pure luxury market also probably didnt help Comptech as well considering one of their major buyers where dealerships. Its really sad to see them go because I loved a lot of their parts and have 2 old friends who worked there on the sales side who have probably lost their jobs.
