Glad you guys had fun. I hated to miss it, but the auto-x went great. 141 cars, 4 runs, plus fun runs. We got lots of compliments on the course. Fun was had by all.

This was a great weekend. The weather was phenom, the track conditions were ideal, and our run group was small enough to have a lot of open track time. (As long as you got around the rental mustang)
That track is great fun.
Congratulations to Scott, Karl, Brian, and John for getting their provisional racing license.
Still can't wipe the smile off of my face.
Oh, and by the way...
All the warnings about how hard that track is on brakes are an understatement. It is worse by far than anyone can make you believe....

a) Getting Shultz as your instructor.
b) Being so damn fast. (probably has a lot to do with a)
c) Doing a and b with splash guards still on!
You will have to post pics of your chewed rotors, bent pads, and scorched splash guards for all to see.

Glad everyone had a good time. I sweated my *** off moving O-man of Saturday, and then any *** I had left I sweated it off at the THSCC autocross on Sunday (141 people, 4 runs, over an hour of fun runs!!!!)

I have to set the rotors up on my LP player. There are enough grooves on them, I want to see if you can dance to it. At least they aren't cracked through, like someone else we all know...
Rule 42: Don't try to outbrake a Type R with a GSR lap after lap at CMP.
The scorched dust shields are something to behold. So are the (now) bananna shaped backing plates for the Hawk Blues. Those things were new at the beginning of the weekend. Sheesh!
Of course, they really held up great while on track. Especially with Karl in the passenger seat saying "I want you to brake a little later, like at the 3 marker..."
Thanks everyone for making that such a fun weekend.

I think we were in Blues corner (between T2 and T3). Scott, Karl, Zsolt, Chris, Bryan, myself were all sweating blue dust. Matt, honestly I think that Saturday would have suprised you in terms of temps (not bad at all). Sunday was indeed Amazon hot and it took it's toll.
Yes, big congratulations to Bryan, Scott, Jon and Karl on the provisional race license. All 4 put on a great show in their SPORTSCARS (Karl)! For those of you who missed it, these guys can effin' drive the wheels off the car and even if you aren't doing a DE, they are just plain great to watch. I would love to get a some in car camera footage of each because I know from riding with Scott and Karl that the passenger seat is great entertainment.
Chris and Zsolt were friggin' flying out there and taking a ride with Zsolt was a real treat. This guy is fast and smooth and this was his first session out (after a nice CMP layoff) of the weekend with a rollbar that was making the tail end do the happy dance. Chris, I wish I could have gotten a ride with you as well 'cause every single time I saw you coming through T1/2 you were absolutely crushing it. Sorry for the spin BTW.
What a truly fun and memorable weekend. I look forward to getting up with all of you guys real soon-like.

I'm not sure who you guys are but me and a buddy of mine were at CMP this past week end as well. He had the blk ITR and I had the PY ITR. We were participating in the driving school. I have now been officially signed off...yes! Still need to work on a few things like remembering to buy race pads b/c I have already gone through 3 sets of pads. I have only owned my ITR for 7 months.
What were you guys driving?

Man I wish I could have gone!! All weekend I kept thinking of how much fun you guys are having, and im not there to enjoy it..
I'll make it to CMP sometime, most likely when it cools down..
I did have an eventful weekend in motorsports as well.. Fixed my 4 - wheeler (fully race setup) then proceded to jump sideways off a jump at about 40mph, land sideways, flip with the bike several times.. All in all, VERY bruised and battered.. Im gonna have to put a rollcage on that thing next
or sell it, anyone wanna buy a badass 4-wheeler?

This guy is fast and smooth and this was his first session out (after a nice CMP layoff) of the weekend with a rollbar that was making the tail end do the happy dance.
And seriously, Zsolt is damn fast. Our last session out was a good lesson in exit speed and smoothness, with him getting such a jump out of 14 that he was putting 2-3 carlengths on me on the front straight.
Karl, how was the ride home?
It was good to put a screen name to a car and face. And I do have to say, the whole bunch of Acura drivers (and I might as well add the Porsche and Mustang Cobra) can all drive damn good. Granted door to door through turns 1, 8, 10, 11 were a blast. I wish we could have done that all weekend. So when’s the next event?
Wicked - the guy in the black R was my student. I remember him saying he was on here but don't remember the screenname. Send him our way.
I had a blast too guys, it was great. Great weather as CMP goes - down there in August I don't think it gets any better than that. I've been down there when it's 15 degrees hotter than it was yesterday.
My beginner student (the black R) made huge progress over the course of the weekend. And if I didn't scare him too bad by taking him off in turn 4 (oops...), I think he's hooked. Madhatter, my int. group student, is very fast, and got faster as the weekend went on. Dude I had no idea you had the splash shields still on the car - you drove well to make the brakes last as well as you did.
The four of us getting our licenses was WAAYYY cool. Very different experience going side by side through the kink, through turn 8, etc. Dicing at corner entry is a lot of fun - especially with people you trust. I'm perfectly comfortable driving close to these guys because I know they're not going to do something stupid.
Until the last session on Sunday when I got greedy in 4, I drove pretty well. Playing with Jon and Scott is a lot of fun - if you can even call it "playing." More like "pedaling as fast as I can hoping not to get a beatdown." Zsolt was along for one of those rides and I think I overheard him call me crazy later that day. j28s has always been fast ever since I've known him (I think he started autocrossing in an automatic trans. Accord and beat a lot of people in it). RoadRacer has me worried - I'm working hard to keep him in sight, and he's got a sick engine. Sure was fun to try - next year, H3's gonna be a fun class to race in
(Edit) Chris, the drive home was fine. There's not much braking to be done in the straight shot up US1 -> 751N to my house. I got home and immediately went to bed.

Guys - Hell of a weekend. You guys are some seriously good drivers. I've got you by 150 f/rwhp probably and you guys were right there. That's darn impressive. That expression, "it's all the driver", I like that. It holds true for you chumps.
For anyone that's interested, I posted this in my world: http://www.svtcobraclub.com/svtbbs2/...=&threadid=293
That thread sums up how the day went.
Sorry I didn't say goodbye to everyone when I left. I would have stayed til they kicked us out. However, my brother had to drive a lot longer than I did and had my 2 wheels and Adam's tent in his car that he dropped off at my house.
Thanks for letting me be a tiny little part of FOHC. I like that term... Are you sure I can't pass for a Honda and compete in the HC? I'll put a Type R logo next to "SVT"?
Thanks for the compliments. Everyone posting here that was at CMP can drive the **** out of the car. Our paddock kicked some major hanches... (a$$)

BTW, anyone record any lap times. I know during one session early on Saturday, someone clocked me at 1.56's and 1.55's. However, I know those dropped as the Blues burnished in and started gripping and the Hoosiers became more familiar.
Just curiass.
Just curiass.
Not much directly on me. One session when I was chasing Scott, Renee timed him in 55-56 range - so I suppose I'm a few tenths off that. I think when I took Zsolt for a ride, Madhatter clocked me at a 56. On "three Toyos and a Kumho," I'll take it.
I think (hope?) Sunday I may have gotten faster that first morning session. Hopefully I got some good video this weekend and can pull times out of that. I came back and more often than not, the red light was blinking (instead of constant on) so I either had a battery going down, ran out of tape, or it comitted suicide from the vibration

krshultz- thanks for your instruction. it definitely was a factor in making the weekend so memorable for me
wicked_R- glad to see you and your 1cm of brake pads made it home OK. thanks for dragging me into this mess

Jon,
You and I were running '57's when we were going at it. Not bad considering that we were passing each other 3 to 4 times per lap
.
And yes, I'm the person that decided to go out and prove that you can't possibly outbrake a Type R for consecutive laps in a GS-R.
Result... Pads (blues) are at the backing plates, rotors are destroyed (open stress cracks radiating from the hub outward), and the rubber insulation on the abs lines is melted.
After about 6 laps my brakes completely gave up the ship. Jon kept running for about 6 more laps.
The good news is that the pads never faded and the fluid never boiled (Good 'ol Valvoline Synpower, 4.99 at Pep Boys). The system as a whole just couldn't stand up to the abuse. By the way guys, Jon brakes at the "2" marker for turn 11. Scott did too, but only for 6 laps
.
If there was any question that the Type R and GSR belong in different race classes, I just accidentally answered it.
All I can say is "Oh yeah... Mine's Louder!!!"
Two wide through the kink... you got to try it to understand.
Great weekend guys. Earned PLENTY of respect for the Honda Marque out there. The way it outta be

You were braking for 11 at 2? Wow. New level of respect for you both there. So is that seat still bunched up in your butt?
