Default Which class??

Hello everyone, I know I should be in this forum as much as I am in the Prelude forum. Anyways I am building my car up for HC and wanted to know if I swapped my Engine from my h23a to an JDM h22a would I be considered hybrid?

Reading the rules it seems any swap would make the car hybrid. Just asking this because the h22a1 did come stock in the U.S Prelude VTEC version. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

P.S - this is a 4th Gen 95 Prelude Si

If the body on your Si is the same as the shell on the Prelude VTEC then you can switch the engine and run in H2. For Example...

You can put an Integra GSR engine in an Integra RS and run H3 becuase thier shell is the same.
You cannot put an ITR Engine in an RS and run H2 or a GSR engine in an ITR and H3 due the extra stiffness of the ITR Shell, this car would be and H1 car
You cannot put an CRX Si engine in an CRX HF, since HF has light/differnt fenders than all the rest of hte CRX's this wound be a Hybrid = H1.

That Help?

Thanks for the reply, the only difference that I know of are the engine and the front brakes. I think the body is exactly the same, just different components used i.e engine and front brakes. Reason being is I am going to use a Euro R motor and that came from a Accord Euro R, would that make any difference? I don't think it should if what you said is correct. Anyone else want to chime in.

Not if you want to race H1.

But it was not offered in a prelude, in the US... so no go for whatever other class the prelude would fall into.

The only differences between the Si and VTEC are the engine, the brakes, and the interior. Since the interior is stripped out, if you swap the other two, you are good for H2. Actually I have Prelude VTEC calipers sitting in my basement, but I think I'm going to hang onto them incase I convert mine over someday. The Euro R engine puts you into H1, no question.

the JDM H22A has 10.6:1 compression instead of 10.0:1. It would be illegal for H2.

Rules allow for a 0.5:1 increase in compression, but I REALLLY doubt you'd somehow get that engine approved.

Just to be clear...

USDM H22 into non-VTEC shell would run wherever Prelude VTEC normally runs, non-hybrid. This assumnes all other VTEC trim-level stuff is also installed (according to speedracer33, brakes are the only other difference).

JDM or Euro H22 into any shell is automatically H1 as a hybrid.

just run it in H1. Better cars to race with and a bigger field.

Yeah i want to run the Euro R, only reason is it's difficult to find a USDM H22 for a decent price around here. Thanks for all of the replies.
