CEL problems at the autox.
Half way through my first run of the day the engine starts limiting somewhere around 5k. When I pull into grid I notice the check engie light is on. I turn the car off it's still on. Then, I unpluged the battery, wait, then pluged it back in. I start it up again and there's no CEL. I do my two remaining runs with no problems.
When I get home I fond the instructions for pulling the codes for the ECU but when I do it there are no codes reported. I assume umpluging the battery cleared the codes. Is there anyway to still recover the codes or are they gone forever?

There must be a check engine light on presently to see what the code is. You erased it when you disconnected the battery.
This sounds like something to ask Mike Neary (RacerMike). He said he had a similar problem with a check engine light and then it suddenly disappeared.
good luck,

well it was somthing semi-serious because the ECU went into limp mode (5k rev limit is one of the signs)
you did clear it by pulling the clamps for the battery.
if it does it again make SURE you pull the code. it could be somthing serious or it could be a stupid fluke

Well...maybe not. He never went into limp mode. But he did have a CEL that came out of no where, then just went away.
We still don't know why.
