Axle/Coilover Question
I have just recently started experiencing that thump-thump sound that you hear with the cv joint/axles go bad. However, it doesn't occur all the time and it doesn't happen when I turn either left or right. It only happens when I make a light stop in a straight line and as stated it doesn't consistently happen. I have GCs w/koni yellows - could it be my coilovers making that popping sound? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
well, it's definetly not your axles if it's inconsistent and doesn't happen when you turn. bad CV joints' indicators are a consistent clicking sound when turning at low speeds. it could likely be your springs/shocks, but i'd check the whole front suspension to be safe (also, brakes). made sure everything is torqued to spec, check for worn bushings as well. i'd think a worn bushing could produce a thumping sound, as things hit that shouldn't hit due to the lack of rubber padding of a bushing.
