AutoX Mods/Classification advice needed
I want to get started in AutoX but I have a problem figuring out which class I want to run in. I have Koni sports (yellows) w/ eibach sportlines, a progress rear sway, and a recaro srd, which would be OK for STS right?
The problem is that I have a new kevlar clutch & 8lb flywheel waiting to be put in. Should I sell the clutch+flywheel and put em towards new wheels & tires? Is STS a better class to run in than SM for a newb? Any suggestions are welcome.

You care correct on the classifications.
Your car will stand a better chance at placing well in STS then in SM. Another option is FSP (less modification then SM) but like SM you will need race tires to be competitive.

both STS and SM are really really competitive classes. STS b/c there are simply so many competitors and great drivers, SM because you're going up against some fast fast fast cars. keep in mind that at most levels for beginners and unseasoned auto-xers like you and i, most of the time the car isn't holding us back so much as our driving so...
i think STS will prob be more rewarding and a better place to learn than SM. you'll want to spend a couple of months in novice just to get a feel for the SOLO II style course, and what auto-x'ing entails, then make the jump to STS. I'm planning on going STX this next season, b/c my current mods seem to be pointing me that way. not sure where i'll go from there.
