Auto-x classes......
Originally I started out in CSP, only mods to my ITR was 4-1, carsound cat, T1R catback, J's intake and Zeal S6.
I recently stripped the backseats and rear interior panels and such. Will this cause me to have to change to SM2?
we have an auto-x this weekend..
TIA

Put your rear interior panels back in and go run SM. Rear seats are allowed to come out in SM, but not panels.
Or, if you really don't care and just want to have fun, then any class you are in will be fine.

no. you are not allowed to remove interior panels and seats in SP. the car will basically become a DM car without the panels. if you have a super 7/caterham in your region, you will not stand a chance. i would put the seats back in.

Nope. Fixed-back aftermarket seats are allowed in xSP. And possibly STX, IIRC.

17.11. STX
A. The STX class expanded the vehicle eligibility limits beyond those specified for STS, and adds a limited number of allowed modifications. The allowances are as follows:
8. Alternate driver and front passenger seats are allowed, but they cannot be constructed of a solid outer shell and must have a suspended bottom cushion and be fully upholstered.
run STX, you will get handled in CSP

Agreed. Miatas and CRXs own CSP in our region.

My car is a '92 Civic Si hatch with B16 motor swap, IT legal rollcage, and bucket seats. I have removed the rear seats, sunroof, headliner, carpeting, and most plastic consoles and interior panels. The dash and door panels are mostly intact (except for cutouts to accommodate the cage). If I reinstall some of the large plastic interior panels could I race SM instead of DM? It is odd to me that simply removing the interior panels bumps a car to Modified. In a small Honda these parts don't weigh much.

I'm in the same situation here but I'm not totally clear, so w/o the interior panels your no longer allowed in CSP? I'm not too big into competing, I just wanna have fun, I'd hate to have to change classes cause I already have magnets for CSP
TIA guys.
TIA guys.
I guess if this thread is on a roll....I have a couple questions of my own.
Are lightened flywheels or relocated batteries allowed in STS? If not, what class would these mods bump you into?
Thanks to all who actually own a rulebook
or at least have a little ka-nollage.

STS - full interior, front seats replaced with reclining aftermarkets if desired. stock battery, stock flywheel.
STX - mostly the same as STS, but they keep changing the rules, so buy a rulebook.
xSP - any battery in any location. full interior. any front seats. flywheel ok.
SM/SM2 - full interior, back seats out ok, any front seats, battery ok, flywheel ok
EP and other Prepared - fully gutted. weirdo engine rules (roughly based on SCCA Production class from Club Racing in the 70s/80s).
DM/EM - fully gutted if you want. hell, you can even partially tube frame it and run carbon fiber bodywork.
Yes, some of the rules are odd and don't make sense in today's world. You have to remember xSP, xP, and xMod rules were written in the 70s and 80s and are based on cars/technology/culture from that era. STS/STX/SM are the first step in modernizing the rules, while still maintaining nominally streetable cars.

If you want to play in SM, you gotta put back in ALL your interior, except the rear seats....that includes the sunroof.

Correct, no interior panels = no CSP

Yes, thanks to all who are willing to inform the uninformed (us). Always appreciated.
Crack Monkey- when you said stock battery, did you mean size(weight) or stock location also. Who's right, you or PseudoRealityX?

Out of curiousity, when you say for SM you can't strip out your rear interior panels, does this mean you can't strip the rear "panels" of the trunk? They weigh little to nothing, I was just wondering as I took them out this last weekend to fit all my gear, and passed tech.
I got a classing question too if ya'll could help me out. I'm going to be putting skunk2 stg 1 cams, porting the head and mugen head gasket (higher comp) in my 2001 acura gsr. What class would this put me in? I'm sure I would have to run with much faster cars/people than I am, but I just go to have fun, learn how to drive better, and romp on the car legally.
Thanks
