Default 1st Timer AutoX

Finally got the guts to try out Autocross today. There was about 58 cars and 29 in my class. By the 2nd heat I got the hand of pushing my car and ran my best time. I got 1st in my class and 7th overall. I was about the 2nd fastest street tire car there. Not bad for my first time

That's good to hear. I can relate to the second heat going a lot better. My third was the best with a 8.XXsec. improvement over the first run. Welcome to the club.

What kind of suspension mods (including wheels, tires, and brakes) have you done?

15" Rota C8's with Yokohama AVS Int. tires, ground control coilovers on stock 130k mile struts, stock brakes. I always drag race so I wasn't really prepared but the mods I had worked well and the car was easy to drive hard, it let go real easy. Plus I didn't hit a cone or run off course the whole day

Wow good job, first place your first day. I'm in the position you were in, I have never auto-xed and really want to. Im in college right now but this summer i really want to try it. I dont have the suspension mods but I might work on some for the hatch, I have shocks/struts to install that I never put on sedan.

58 Cars? We just had our season opener with 164 cars. Glad you enjoyed your first day. I'm guessing you are hooked now, right?

Wow. What class? That's half the cars in the paddock!

Man - 2nd fastest street tire time of the day? That's MAD fast for a lightly modded Civic.

Is there alot of competition in your local region? Like nationally competitive drivers or whatnot?

Makes me feel worthless when I struggle to sometimes get in the top 10 times for novice class. Although there are some people that run Novice at times but have Hoosiers - me thinks they were too lazy to put a number on their car so they just a novice print out number.

It was the class for non-scca members since it was the first test and tune for the season. I was with 3 C5's, 2 wrx's, 2 neons, 3 miatas, 2 fieros, 1 new 1 old GTI, 2 mr2's, a pantara, 3 mustangs including a 03 cobra, and some other cars.

It is addictive and I want to try it again to see if it wasn't a fluke but right now I can't afford too many sports, 6 runs took their toll on my tires

If you aren't hitting cones you are not trying hard enough Congrats on your class win and welcome to a life of addiction!

I think we had 300+ cars at our season opener yesterday in DC.

Mike

Yep two rounds of 3 runs. Wasn't bad but standing out in the lot flipping over cones for an hour when you gotta pee kinda sucks

Don't spend money on your car. Don't install the springs and shocks. Spend the money on seat time and an Evolution Performance Driving School if you want to be fast.

You can spend $500 on shocks and drop a tenth of a second or spend that money on this school and drop 10 seconds.

Your decision.

What class would I be in if I choose to race in other SCCA events? I'm not sure how swapped Civics are classified.

You would end up in Street Modified most likely.
