Tailight tinting issues?
I took out my taillights on my DA to put a light shade of tint over them, but when i went to apply the tint noticed that the words on the JDM lights stick out causing the tint to look like complete **** after i went to put it on.
I have no idea what to do besides sanding the letters down in those spots but then i would take the clear coat right off defeating the purpose of using the film tint over the spray so i can reverse back to stock tails if i decide to.
:dunno:
If anybody knows any other options that would be great!

Thought about this, but i think the film gives a nicer look, and when its on and if i decide to remove it, i just peel it off instead of stripping the night shade off with gas etc.
I figured out what i am going to do, sand down the letters with say a 400 grit, move up to a 600, 800, 1000, 1200 and do the whole light while using water as lubrication.
Then when I'm done and the lights look good i will apply the tint, if i need to remove it after that i just have to peel it back, and give the lights a nice buff and I'm good to go.

Seems like considerable effort.
I've used Niteshades more times than I can even remember with great results.
But let us know how it works out. I'd like to see the lenses with the lettering sanded down.

im not worried about the effort, i just want everything to look good.
Hopefully this will work as I'm trying to stay away from the night shade. :thumb up:
i will post pics when done.

Update, decided today to sand down the letters on the extra set of tails, and apply VHT nightshade to one of them. (first coat is ****, i will have to re-wetsand and put a couple more coats of clear on it to make it look good)
I will be applying the 3m film tint on one of them tomorrow and comparing them, seeing which look i like better and will post pictures of both results.

Some updates.
Havent gotten around to the VHT night shade, and i don't think i am even going to try it seeing on how dark this tint it already, i thought it was going to be a little bit lighter.
Either way I'm not a fan of what they actually look like in the car so original stock tails for me
