Rust under paint suggestions?
I'm gonna be removing the shitty paint job paint from the rex here pretty soon.. I'm assuming air craft would be choice to do this with? Also, there's chips all over the place on the body, so I helped one along and noticed some rust. Would this only be a case of surface rust? And would sanding be the best way to remove it before new primer/paint etc?
Thanks

depends oin if its through the metal or if its jsut surface rust
you wont knwo until you either hit the spot or remove to bare metal
yes air craft would do wonders

sorry to jump on your post, but im in the same situation, i stripped the car inside out, and ready for the entire paint to be taken off, what would u guys suggest?? sand blasting, sanding it or aircraft paint strippering it myself??? if sanding what grit. holler!
if you have to money go get it media blasted (sandblasted but they dont use sand anymore its plastic *****)
that would get it completely stripped
but if you are on a budget you can use aircraft
if sanding to bare metal you can use like 80-150 grit with a power sander

oo and if you have rust all the way through the metal you have to cut it out and WELD a sheet of metal back into the place you cut out!!
do NOT try and "bondo" the hole closed!!!!!
