quarter panel rust?
i have some rust in typical honda section, rear quarters where the bumper mounts on, i was told that both quarters have to be entirely replaced and the guy gave me an estimate $$$$.$$ is this standard procedure, or are there other ways?
Just cut the areas out and weld in new. Depends on the area tho, usually you can bend metal as needed and weld. Then you hit with some fiberglass filler and paint to make it look stock again. It will come back through after about 3 years if on salty roads etc. I have a trick for protecting the back side and on my crx it hasnt came back through for about 4-5 years now since i fixed. If in a dry area your lucky. Fix them all the time, usually like $100 a spot, fill and prime no final paint. Depends on area and complexity of contour really. Here are some shots of one im doing now. Looks shitty now but once done you wont be able to tell. Grind welds down etc.

i have made patches but you need to make sure you corrosion protect them properly or else its gonna come back the whole qtr panel is the way to go if its a car you plan on keeping a while.
Remember RUST NEVER SLEEPS
Remember RUST NEVER SLEEPS
the body shop i went to told me that the only way they will guarantee it is if they replace the entire quarter, each quarter was about 2,000 dollars. plus the paint, labor etc. I think i was looking at 6,000 being that i need both quarters.
as above as long as you cut away the bad metal and plate it like shown above their is no reason too have to re new the full quarter panels. and doing this will stop it coming back aslong as it is sealed and protected on the inside aswell
