Paint problem?
Hi,
I just picked up this integra from a friend and noticed that the paint was messed up. I'm not too sure if it is paint oxidation or is it the clearcoat peeling off. I've looked into ways to try to repair it, but it seems that the only option is just to get a new paint job. Are there any other things I could do to maybe correct it or prevent more from happening? Also will water hurt the car even more or should it be fine in the rain/car washes?

It looks alot like the really bad condition my paint on my factory deck lid is in. Just years of abuse most likely. As long there isn't any bare metal showing or material flaking off it should be fine for the time being.
At least from the pictures it looks like the surface has been neglected for awhile, buffed dry, too much, or any combination of the prior. At least in my opinion.
If it really bugs you just hit up your local Maaco shop and have them do a scuff and shoot on it.
I wouldn't seriously worry unless it starts suddenly getting worse, ie. paint starts peeling/flaking and rusting.

You could try wetsanding and buffing it. There probably isn't a lot of material on there, so you would have to be careful not to break through, maybe use 3000 grit or something. That might get it to look nice again. Who knows...
