paint prep?
so i just picked up a sol and it has a bit of a rough paint job looks like the previous owners rattle canned the whole car white with a black hood not a big deal. the gf and i want to paint it burnt orange. should i sand the car down to the OEM color to achive the best quality finish or should i use a stripper and then prime and paint?
a lot of people would say no. but if you want porper adhesion I would sand it back to original color. then go from there. I dont trust rattle can ****
i want to get started now it will be a few weeks till i get to paint i should mention its a del sol but she is also my current daily so would it be safe to sand and drive still?
you can DA the whole car with 320 and that would probally knock off all the rattle can paint. as long as you dont hit bare metal there is no harm in sanding your car daily. just make sure when you are gonna get ready to spray do a quick pass over everything and clean really well.
