Paint Code Help!!!! !!
i am having some body work done on my car right now and what i thought was a oem championship white now turns out to be championship white with a bit of mint green pearl! the car is already in the shop being worked on and now with the wrong color code in hand, i'm getting frustrated!! so what are my options? and yes, i am looking for the quickest option....too bad he has no paint scanner and all he can think of is to take one of the bumpers off and send it to a paint lab and they will get him a code but he said it would not be a PERFECT match and could take up to two weeks. what i thought was going to be a nice easy process to get some bodywork done and painted in & out in a couple days is now looking like it's gonna turn into a couple of weeks without a car if i can't come up with anymore ideas! if that's my only option, i may just get the bodywork done and in primer and drive it until i can get this code! what would you guys do?? all advice is appreciated. thank you!
Is the paint oem? If it is theres no reason he shouldnt be able to match the paint. The vin will give all the varences of that color. From there its easy enough to find the right varaince just by spot checking. Someting sound fishy about this guy theres no resason he shouldnt be able to match that color any good painter will atleast know where to start then its just trial and error. We dont have a paint scaner and we've matched unknown custom paint before. I think a bit rediculous that he doesnt know how to find a paint code for oem or be able to match a custom color. Yes trying to match a color is a bitch but weve been doing it for a few decades without tech. Id have him do the primer and take it else where sounds like a backyard painter. The paint will never match exactly thats why the color championship white has 8 variances even at the factroy they cant mix the paint the same all the time.
he has the paint code for championship white but it doesn't look anything close to the color of my car.....
the paint is not oem, it is acura championship white with mint green pearl in it

Someone needs to take the time to paint match the parts. It's not that hard, but it takes time. If the guy doesn't want to, or doesn't have the skill, he should be asking his paint supplier for help. Typically a good paint supplier will paint match for good customers.
i don't know, i'm gonna try and get in touch with him this weekend and let him know what i found out about it having pearl in it....
he's been doing bodywork for years around my area and what i don't understand is he acts like this is the first time he's came across a non oem paint on a vehicle!! i don't know anything about paint and bodywork so that's why i didn't know what to suggest to him or if anyone else might have any different ideas on what to do! i guess i'm gonna end up having to let him take a bumper off and send it off to be paint matched
