oxidation?
my milano red integra is milano pink on the entire panel undel the spoiler. would that be oxidation or the paint fading? it is the only panel pink on the car, evrything else is bright red, so im debating whether to buy oxidation removingg product, or repaint that panel.

compound it.
compound it.
i only have the 3m rubbing compound(very abrasive) and just from looking I can't tell how much clear is left on that panel. Now that I'm in LA, im not allowed to use my buffer machine in the apt complex garage, so how well does hand compounding work?

Stay away.
First it is most likely the paint fadding. I had a MR civic ex and it was the same way. You can compound all you want but in the direct sun light it will still look pink.
The reason I say stay away is because if you don't know how to use certain products you can make your paint worse than it is. I was at school the other day and a van parked next to me. Right along the side of it looked to be a key mark and then there was a **** load of scratches along that key mark. Looks like someone went to autozone and bought some compound and went nuts. Read up on some articles and see what you can and can't do by hand.

yea hand compounding almost never works.
I have restored milano red paint sucessfully in the past, but it could also be to the point of clear coat failure in your case (OP).

Red is single stage, the color and clear are mixed together, thats why its faded. If the panel is just dull, it should buff out for a little while. if the panel has any white to it, or rings stay away, its to far gone.

looks like i'll have to remove the spoiler and repaint the panel then. what i dont get is that its evenly pinkish the entire panel, but all the panels around it are bright and vibrant red.
any explanation? and would anyone know how to remove the spoiler off a DC2 integra

take off the spoiler, and try buffing it. Does the paint have any white spots or rings?
You need to pop off the plastic panel inside your trunk lid with a wedge, flathead screwdriver, pry tool..... It just has little plastic one piece clips holding it on. Once you have it off(or dropped down far enough) You'll see a wire with a connector on the right hand side, thats for your led. after thats disconnected remove the two 10 mm cap nuts from either side of the spoiler underneath tha hatch. Wiggle the spoiler gently until the foam sealer pulls free and your done
