i have a few spots on my car where the paint is chipping, it is exposing the metal which is now rusted. im looking to do this myself but dont know what to really do (first timer). what type of sandpaper should i use? should i sand to the metal or just until the rust is off? what do i spray to prevent further rust, primer? im looking to just avoid from having the rust get worse as I am on a tight budget. i live near a kragen, hopefully they have everything i would need.

Sand it until the rust is gone. Then use some primer to cover it up so it doesn't rust again.
