i would like to help .
if you will change the door it will be much easy for you to get the level but if you don't want you can cut the place and weld a mital plate and do the fabrication.
and the rist you know about it ... Body filler , etc .. till the paint.
Hope this will help if not you can send us some PIC's and we will see what can we do ..

there are several ways to go about this. probably the easiest would be to get a replacement door and swap it out and paint it. you can find one at a salvage yard and maybe if youre lucky you can find it in the same color. if you try to cut out the cancer and you are a novice (no offense) chances are you will see it resurface months down the road. trying to grind down rust and then repainting a door will leave sand marks and bullseyes in your paint. paint consists of several different layers so if you try to sand down and repaint without feathering and blending you will see rings much like rings in a tree stump.

your question kinda sucks. What year is the car? How old is the paint? What color is the paint? Something like a white is MUCH easier to blend than a old faded *** red. If the car has rust already im going to go out on a limb and say its already kinda old. So pretty much even if you did paint that entire door (unless you play around with your tinting REALLL good) your going to have to blend into adjacent panels anyway. That is unless you like having one door thats alot brighter than the rest of the car.
But to answer your question. Yes you can blend the paint if you dont want to shoot the entire door. Again I have no idea what color it is so I cant help you out any more.
