I was wondering how much paint do you think i will need to paint a 99 civic with roughly 2 coats of paint. Ive been told 1-2 gallons some people say 3. I just want to know more or less so i can buy the paint.

 

Would depend on the reduction ratio of the paint; 1:1, 2:1, 4:1, ect. Which more or less depends on what auto body supply shop you buy it from.

Are you doing a base coat clear coat or are you doing a single stage job?

 

1 gallon will cover it with some leftovers. Is this your first time painting?

 

You will need about 3 qts of epoxy, a gal of 2k surfacer, a gal of base, an atleast a gal of clear. You are looking at around 700 depending if you cheap out or use quality stuff. You sound like you never have painted before, because two coats dont mean anything. You need atleast 2mils of clear for UV Protection and making sure you sun gun your base coat even if you are just using a solid base. Hope you are using a diffrent gun for prime, base and atleast using a Sata or Iwata paint gun for clear. Sont forget you need to seal and feather out anykind of damages in old paint. U need atleast 300 for sand paper and polishes. Not to mention a buffer like dewalt or bluepoint, those run like 200-300
