Front End Conversion
I was watching Trick It Out and saw that they did a front end conversion to this Honda Accord. They made the front into a Mercedes. I just wanted to know how they did that?

I'd imagine they purchased the front clip of a mercedes and did a lot of custom fabrication to fit everything up. Having worked on a lot of Mercedes at work I can tell you that there really aren't any similarities between the two, so you definitly aren't looking at any kind of bolt up situation. More likely that they welded in the rad support and bumper reinforcement off the benz, and modified either the accord fenders or the edge of the benz hood pretty extensively. You can do anything with enough time and skill, really. Why you would spend the time doing this, I don't really know, though.

I've never done one, but I heard the bubble's with integra fronts are more bolt up than something like the benz fronts are, just because they are built on a similar chassis, but still involve some custom fabrication. I can respect the amount of work put into these conversions, but I don't really understand the point. With the amount of money and time you'd have to put into something like that accord, I'd rather just buy an actual benz thats wrecked and rebuild it and have the real deal. Maybe thats just me, but I doubt it.

Well this car they actually used the whole front clip. They cut the fenders in half and only kept the mounting parts to the door for the accord and the rest welded the other half of the fender. Hoods usually not that much of a problem, just move the latch to the latch area. They usually use the original supports and just drill new mounting points for the bumper. It's a lot of bondo and fiberglass. Very time consuming because you will want everything to be oem like.

The point of the conversion is just to be different taking your car to another level of modifications. Its fun to do. Restoring a wreck car is great too. Just anything you somewhat or did built on your own is awesome!
