Default Fender install question.

When I removed the fender's from my 94 prelude I noticed there was some type of silicone( looked like hondabond) underneath where they bolt on. Is there some special type of stuff I need to use before I install my fenders?

I know nothing about body work so be gentle.

It might just be undercoating that got sprayed around the bolt holes. If it feels rubberlike then its undercoat, its basically a form of corrosion protection, but I cant be certain till I see a picture or something.
