Convertible Conversion
I will post this on the metal fabrication thread as well ..... I wanted to know if anyone has done a Honda Accord convertible conversion ..... I will be attempting to do a 96 Accord 2 door coupe ..... Any tips or advice is welcomed ...... Thanks
Look very very deep into this before cutting off the roof. There are many complications, and it is very expensive and complicated.
Converting to a non fullframe door, creating seals, a new mechanism to raise the top, all the electronics, a new rear windshield, all the extensive vinyl work for the top, the folding mechanism, and frame reinforcements.
In modern convertibles, the windshield pillars and frame are reinforced to act as a roll cage. In my chrysledr convertible, there were frame reinforcements and steel bars in the doors to reduce body flex. Keep in mind, you either have to replace the rear windows with vinyl or create new mechanisms for the rear windows.

Yeah I hear you bro ..... I was thinking to look into eclipse or Solara tops or to use as a donor car ..... I know it will be expensive I've been quoted about 9g's to do it ..... I also would like to know if this has been done before ..... If so post pictures .....
Now, I hate being a hypocrite... that just seems like a complete waste unless you're doing the whole thing on your own and you have mad metal and upholstery skills.
Good luck!

I wonder where have we seen Hondas with the roof cut to make a convertible before...

OP, if you don't seriously increase the structural integrity of the car after cutting, it will just fold up on you while driving.
Also, at least try and make it look decent, unlike most professional aftermarket convertible conversions.
