compressor size
So I'm finally going to stop asking for favors and paint my own way now. I do have some experience spraying but only on company equipment. I'm going to be painting my race bike fairings only, no cars whatsoever. What size compressor tank do you think i can get away with? (I have searched but didn't find anything in relation to the size of my projects).
Size of the tank doesn't matter all that much, the best thing to do is pick out your gun and go with a compressor that will supply the CFMs/PSI for the gun.
Just for example, I use a 19 CFM @ 125 PSI 80 gallon compressor to paint cars, so 1/2 of that might be about your range...

The HVLP's I've seen require 5 to 15 CFM, although compressors that can supply above 5-7 CFM start to get pretty expensive.
Holy crap 90 @ 125 is MASSIVE. I think you'll be hard-pressed to find even a 45 CFM compressor in anything less than a huge 240-volt or even gasoline-powered compressor. If you can find one that's electric it'll likely require a special dedicated circuit in your garage that you'll need an electrician to install.

I did have to run a dedicated 240 outlet though

lol yeah I was gonna say 90 CFM compressors are like those huge diesel-powered ones on trailers that you can rent for hundreds of bucks a day.
I looked at several guns last night and most required 10-15 CFM at some low PSI like 25 (HVLP guns, high volume low pressure, so lots of air but at low pressure).
My 26 gallon 115-volt Craftsman upright only supplies about 6.5 at 90, which is plenty for my pneumatic tools but wouldn't be sufficient for a good HVLP.
