I think 99% of this website will flame you for wanting a body kit.

Plus they look like crap!

I would suggest getting a lip kit all round, what year is your accord?

My accord is 2003 ex. Well I jus got the car recently and I just wanna do stuff to my car. I am going to mod the stuff under the hood but I want to wait and read more about it since I dun noe much and I'm not really rdy to do stuff like that so I decided to do some exterior stuff first for fun. And why is bodykits so frowned upon and lips aren't? I just want to do something that isn't too serious first, and slowly build from that? I mean, if it's really that discouraged I guess I'll rethink it..

People will flame you for this, but please remember... ITS YOUR CAR! Do what you want to it. As far as body kits go, look for one that is polyurethane. Stay away from fiberglass.....

I'm not sure if I'm guna get a body kit anymore. But just in case. Is polyurethane the best type of material for a bodykit? And is there a specific brand that's better?

And I'm more interested in why a lip kit is more acceptable than a bodykit?

Urethane will be the most durable. However, people underrate fiberglass. There are new additives in the glass mix that make it flexible. Make sure you go with a well know manufacturer like wings west, c-west, or extreme dimensions(for more "showy" kits). Wings west copies a lot of Japaneses kits and c-west actually wind tunnel and track tests all their kits. Be prepared to drop some major coin on a c-west kit. For the record, I'm rather fond of this kit

Couple a kit with a real splitter and you'll have a functional piece of aero equipment.

Be prepared for flames...just remember to build your car for yourself and not honda-tech. Lip kits are more acceptable because they are Jay Dee Emm tyte yo!

i'd say go lip kit...i have seen some nice looking accords with just minor lip kits, drop, and wheels.

but if you want to go all out make sure you dont cheap out on your kit...you will pay for quality and fit mint, and trust me, fitting a crappy kit is NOT and i repeat NOT fun to do.

thanks for ur responses, that helped quite a bit. but i'm probably wont do anything for a while. i just decided to look into this because since it's just exterior it isnt such a radical change to my car since i'm still a little paranoid about the skills of the shops around me. i've also been looking into stuff like short ram and superchargers and stuff that that's too advanced for me at the moment since this is my first car. so i'm just trying to get and understand as much as possible and playing with stuff from little exterior mods first..

but, about the bodykit thing, the reason i thought of the bodykit over the lip was because i kind of want it to just be one piece rather than having a lip bolted on, but now i'm kinda thinking it over since i dun really want people to think im "rice" or .. whatever..

but nevertheless, can u people recommend me some site that i can check out with those bodykits or lip kits you guys were talking about?

thanks a lot.

x2

That is all you need IMO. It keeps with the lines of the car yet adds a little style.

Heres some examples of a lip kit for a 2003+ accord

I DO NOT own this car

This car belongs to 91b16acrx

So PM him if you have any questions

As you can see, a lip kit is a lot better than a body kit
The car looks way smoother and nicer with the lip kit

The difference is that the lip kit bolts to the stock bumpers, opposed to replacing the entire thing.

Hey man I just got to tell you one thing do rite or don't do it at all. Body kits are ok. Just don't cheap out and get some cheap kit. Secondly get a paint job. I see to many ricer with unpainted kits or kits with different color the does not match with the car. Lip kits are good because you keep your stock oem stuff .

The lips bolt on to your stock bumpers/side of your car, you can put it on and off whenever you please, as stated

ooh. and, i heard that bodykits block air flow into the radiator and have bad areadynamics, is that true? i was just browsing and JVS10 mentioned C-west, but i could not find anything for my car from them, and i just wanted to know if there is a way around the areodynamic thing..

If you like a lip kit, get a lip kit...if you like a body kit, get a body kit. Neither one will effect the performance of the car on the street enough to notice. Check the sponsors for kits, help support the site.

heres my opinion from personal experience: I have had a bodykit on my 91 eagle talon, my 99 civic, and my 92 honda prelude, so ive been there, done that. i have grown to hate body kits. they break all the time or crack, they NEVER fit right out of the factory unless you get like a c west or something (my friend spent 4k on a c west kit ), most require new holes drilled into your frame, i found myself welding mine later they make it so you cant use your fenderwell plastics or mudflaps, so then you hear a bunch of rocks hitting under your car and getting in your door jams and on ur strut towers, it will or should cost you about twice as much as the kit cost just to get it fitted right and paint it to blend nicely. unless you have a bunch of dumb looking braces holding it tight, IT WILL FLAP AROUND ON THE FREEWAY , and last but not least- they go out of style fast, unlike an oem bumper. So I would say stick to a lip and keep ur oem bumpers, your car is sick already and with oem bumpers you know there was a team of Honda guys designing them to work with your car!

Yeah. I've decided to just get a lip and new grille for the car so I can keep the oem bumpers and just change the lip whenever I like. But the only challenge I have is finding the grille that I want. I've searched the net and couldn't really find anything for my year accord..
