2003 Honda Pilot error code PO172
Hi,
About two weeks ago I was driving and the 'd' light started flashing. Upon restart it went away. Then yesterday the 'd' light comes on sometimes when I start the car and not other. I started the car around 7 times yesterday (did alot of errands) and 3 times the 'd' light started flashing.
I checked the error code and it was PO172. What are the most common problems, and first solutions to try?
I also read about a 4th gear pressure sensor can cause the 'd' light to flash. Would this cause the error code PO172?
thanks.

I too had the same code. I had it scanned my by my trans guy and the honda dealer. The dealer told me I need a new trans, since I had 103,000miles. I did some searching on this code and light blink and replaced the 3rd and 4th gear oil switch with seals for $100 in about an hour. The fluid loss is minimal and if you have the new switch's ready and your finger over hole when removed no fluid loss is possible. All you need is a regular scewdriver a 10 mm socket either a 22mm or 7/8 wrench and you can do it. My pilot now drives like it did at 50,000 and shifts great with no lag between 35 and 45.
