a. have your license, registration and insurance ready to go. if you previously failed, have that paperwork present.
b. turn your headlights on before entering
c. drive in, get out of your car, hand all your paperwork to the inspectee. the paperwork includes your ticket number, license, registation, insurance card, fail papers if you failed the last time you were there and documents for repairs made if you previously failed. now follow the specified path to the waiting booth. they will yell at you if you dont stay in the booth
d. the first things they check are headlights, directionals (by clicking speed inside the car) and horn
e. they then stick your car on the rollers and check your emissions. if your idle is too high or erratic they will not check your emissions. you automaticaly fail if you have a cel
f. they then check your brakes by driving onto a skid pad and mashing the brakes
g. the inspectee will drive the car to the exit of the building where another employee will give you a REJECTED or a passing sticker. he HAS TO give you your results regardless of whether or not you passed; if you fail you should get a packet of 3 papers including results and forms to fill out for repairs made before you get reinspected. also, they SHOULD explain to you why you failed, given that they are knowledgeable on the subject.
This is all based on my experiences at the lakewood inspection station on rt. 70 west in lakewood, i failed 4 times before swapping my ecu and pulling my cel bulb to pass. My car is obd1; obd2---good luck HA.

everything is good from the accident. the only thing i have left to do is blackhouse the other headlight still.
i wish i had expierience with inspection. the only time i had the car inspected was when it was bone stock. last summer i just made my own inspection sticker.

If your car is OBDII you will fail. You need and OBDII ecu in an OBDII car.
732xghost, how did you make one photoshop and special paper? You know it's in a system when and where your car gets inspected and what the result is. So it might look funny that you have a "passing" sticker when it's not in the system that you passed. I don't know if the police have access to this system though, I would have to ask one of my cop buddies. The good part is that Jersey is not like New York and they can't suspend your registration if you fail to get your car inspected. Depending on the area and how strict the cops are (or who you know), you might not even have to get it inspected and you might be fine. I have many friends who haven't had their cars inspected for years. I think out of all of them and all of the times they've been pulled over one kid got questioned and ticketed ONCE, that was awhile ago. He just got 3 seatbelt tickets this past month and not once did an officer question the lack of a sticker on his truck and the rejected sticker from almost a year ago on his car. 2 different vehicles, being stopped 4 different times and nothing about inspection.
I guess this could always be your last resort if you can't pass.

i cut out the vehicle information from the original sticker and took a sticker from another vehicle at work. then i taped the vehicle information around the the outer part of the sticker.
if i were to fail, can i buy parts myself and show them receipts? or does it have to be from a mechanics shop. im just really worried about emissions. any ever use two catalytic converters?? for all i care, i would make the whole exhaust one big cat. going big anyway

I've never heard of that. I heard if you repeatedly fail inspection with the state they can suspend it, however I've never heard any cases of that done ever.
Like I said, I have friends who haven't inspected their vehicles for years, each year they renew their registration with no problems. It's not in the DMV database that 732 is inspected, he can still renew. New York will automatically suspend your registration when they see you don't inspect your car on time.

Haha. Just be careful, it's smart you keep your little white paper piece that is printed from the machine with your correct VIN and everything. Those little bar codes and numbers on the bottom of new inspection stickers link that sticker to the make, model, and vin of the car in their database. I remember at the place the guy scanned my sticker and linked it to my car. I highly doubt however that they would scan your sticker or even bother as long as it looks good. Like I said, from experience, I don't even see may cops that notice the inspection sticker.

I personally dont like how in NJ you can make fake stickers. Just buy a legit cat, Run the correct ECU (or close to same) and save the environment. It's not that hard to pass, seriously. Stop ni99er rigging stuff and do it correct the first way. I've only had one car out of the 6 I've had in the last two years not pass. It wasn't emissions either

Oh. They might have just said that to scare you. Like I said, me and 732 know from experience that they don't revoke or suspend registrations based on lack of inspection. However, I did hear that they can suspend a registration if you repeatedly fail inspection, I have never seen it done however so I don't know how much I believe on that.
Like I said, I know people who haven't inspected their car in years and each year they get the renewal in the mail for registration, pay it, and still drive the car.

how about a universal cat from midas? i wish i did everything the correct way but my swap ended up costing too much. im trying to make things correct not while still staying in a decent price range. i do have my p13 ecu, but i would have some wiring and part location to do.
nah, one in NJ, right near gibbstown i believe.... http://www.na-motorsports.com/....html
it apparently hosts autocross, drag, and even rally. I'm interested.
