Default Park & tail & dash light problem in one

2001 Honda Accord

Instrument panel, parking lights, AND tail lights .. none are lighting up.
Fuses and bulbs are all fine.

Are there any relay or fuse outside of the fuse boxes?
Or does anyone have a repair manual and can give some clues.
Brake lights, turn signals, headlights are all fine.

Hi,

am facing the exact same problem.
I took my car to a local shop last week and the guy is not able to figure it out...
But he pointed out to a Honda factory recall on a multiplex switch for Accord 2000
EX/LX models. Given the VIN number, they should be able to tell you if you are eligible for the factory recall...

Having said that, my Accord SE is not eligible for that.

The authorized dealers are trying to rip me off by charging 200$ to just do a
diagnostics minimum. If they had to spend additional time... they will even charge
more for just identifying the issue... am really getting screwed here.

Pls let me know if you find the solution for the problem... so that I can ask the
service guy to just fix that & that will save some green...

Thanks,
- Madhu

Good news.... My problem was fixed the next day after I posted this.
that was weeks ago now ! haha

I got some good help from a different forum that I'm on , for our travel trailers. I wondered if the problem had any thing to do with my trailer light hookup out of the trunk , since it happened right after coming home from a trip with it hooked up.

My knowledgeable friend and I went to autozone dot com and was able to look at the wiring diagram.... then after we had already checked every fuse under the hood and on the drivers side... he checked every fuse on the passenger side fuse box --- we didn't check that before because it was for moonroof, sunroof, power doors, windows etc.

BUT ::::: the fuse indicated for "small lights" was burned out !!!! Replaced it and wah lah! fixed.

don't know why it shorted out, but it hasn't reoccurred and I have towed my trailer since then.

Hope this helps.
Julie

Hi Julie,

I cant thank you enough :-)

Mine is a 2 staged problem ....
1. The wiring harness of the MP3 player that I installed myself 2 yrs back had a short
circuit... I fixed that in the morning by insulating all the wires... The problem isnt
fixed.
2. I read your post on the small light fuse & replaced it... voila... fixed !!!

Saved atleast 200$ :-)

Thanks again
