Default Interior Lighting

Hey, I was wondering if anyone would know if LEDs produce enough heat to melt the housing because I read somewhere that it does. I am planning to install LEDs in the interior (Dome light, Map light, and the door step light).
Thanks.

LED's light much much cooler then regular interior bulbs, they draw less power as well. and last way longer!

Thanks for the responses. But the thing is, I'm replacing my Dome light (DE3175 bulb) with LEDs (30 LEDs on the circuit) and i was a little bothered about whether or not 30 LEDs together would be too hot. Or perhaps, should I just buy another with less LEDs?
Thanks.

It came like that and I guess I bought it cause I thought it would be brighter (it's also on sale) not thinking about whether or not it emits a large quantity of heat.. =(
These are the ones i bought: http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/D...-p5168719.html

They do make very bright LED's these days, I have not looked around but Google may come up with something better, not that your idea is bad. I would want to see one in action before getting it, 30 light to make the same brightness as one old little bulb, maybe a little brighter???

The only LED I would be concerned about are the high power style bulbs that have a metallic heatsink built into the base. Something like this:
http://badablinghids.ecrater.com/p/7...-panel-12-watt

Those guys will generate a good amount of heat. Everything else I've ever used though (1210 SMD, 5050 SMD, flux, LED) do not create enough heat to be worried about.

Yeah, I will post up some pics after i put them in, I just ordered them a few days ago, they SHOULD arrive by next week.
But about what OPERATIC said kind of scares me a little because I also bought this :
http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/D...87987-1-2.html
For my license plate light. It also has a heat sink and because it's on the license plate light it will probably be on ALL day. Do you think there would be a problem with these? I'm sorry, I've been really paranoid and cautious with my car lately since I'm really trying to keep it nice and running well. I particularly do not want to take any chances with melting housings.. I probably should have posted these questions before buying it =(

Please let me know what you guys think about these and heat problems. Thanks a lot!

That particular style, I haven't seen. Typically the high power bulbs I see are a single LED on top, of varying wattage. The ones I've seen in person, hold up fine. The V-LED ones, I cannot personally comment on because I've never tried them. You should not have a problem with it though.

The only thing I would be worried about, is if it fits your license plate housing. It's hard to tell from the picture, but it looks a little on the tall side and looks like it's on a PCB board. The height may be an issue.
