Integra HID retrofit How to
Hello people here is the steps that I took durring a recent HID retrofit that I did on my 97 Integra headlights. This is my first attempt at doing a retrofit so comments and critisisim are appriciated.
I used:
05 TSX projectors
OEM 94-97
Morimoto HID Kit: Stage II

Misc #8 hardware
Tools used

Here are headlights I started with

Removed all pieces before putting in the oven

400 degree oven for 5 minutes dont preheat the tray you put it on to ensure you dont melt anything pryed apart using a few butter knives

I removed whatever I could from the braket and begin to cut away the old lowbeam

The TSX projectors are wider than tall so the opening needs to be oval I turned it over and followed the shape of the braket and trimmed and sanded it down

The projector also needed to be trimmed a little

The TSX projectors have little built in feet that i used to mark and drill mounting holes

Gave the braket a coat of paint and mount the cleaned projector using harware to secure it to the braket

Start reassembling the inside of the headlight good idea to clean it up inside

Put back in the oven 400 degree for 5 minutes on a cold tray to loosen up the adheasive and get the light back together

With the housing back together finish putting on all remaining parts the original rubber piece behind the low beam can be reused with minimal triming

With the headlight done I cleaned up the exterior of the lenes here is how they turned out and a pic of all the components that will be used

I will post some pics of them running when they are installed

Im a noob to the retrofit thing. I have done a little reading, but im kinda confused. Why do you replace your stock integra projector with another projector from another vehicle? Just for clearity? Thanks in advance. It looks like you did a good job by the way. If you dont mind me asking, what was total cost for this project?

If you want to benefit from the increased light output of HID, you want the beam pattern that is used with HID (they are quite a bit different). This means replacing the halogen projector with a HID projector.
Without the projector swap, you get HID output in the halogen pattern, which means an overpowered foreground (this reduces distance vision) and none of the additional width HIDs are known for. In short, HID in a halogen projector or reflector reduces night vision, offers no benefits, and generally is more blinding to oncoming traffic, reducing their vision as well.
The same applies when a HID projector is used to replace a halogen reflector, which are generally worse than even a halogen projector in terms of width, even distribution of light, and cutoff.

Nice write up! I am going to give my headlights a shot soon (well, not mine but a spare set). How did you go about installing something to aim the low beams both vertically and horzontially?

The whole mount bracket moves in an Integra headlight. So mounting the projectors to the stock mount bracket means stock adjustability is retained.

They are not. S2K projectors have quite a bit different shape than the ones pictured here. You have to space them forward away from the mount bracket a good bit farther.
Sweet man. Thanks for the heads up. I have been running through my head since seeing this how adjustments were made. Thanks again!
That site he provided is about the best around and customer service it pretty good.
Any good sources where I can send my integra headlamps + Tsx projectors to have the service done? I'd prefer California, but would like to see what else is out there. I am already aware about Lightwerkz, which seem quality but really expensive.

Did you read through the how-to above? Don't you think you could do it yourself?

haha wrd that's why pretty much everything on my car in the past decade has been DIY because I don't trust other people to touch my car.
Anyone in the Bay Area/San Jose area provide this service?
Ceasar (i think thats his name?) at Lightwerks does some DAAAAAMMMNNN good work. Yea, its a bit pricey, but its top notch.
If you dont want to worry about ruining anything on a first try, your best bet is to buy a set of used or ebay brand-x headlights and either do the job on them or practice on them first. Ive done maybe 10 retrofits now, and it gets easier every time. Take constructive criticism from people that have done it before and just do a little trial and error. My first retro took me the better part of the month between reading and working and just did one on a friends car in a weekend (which realistically could have been done in an afternoon minus the bud light ha)

If anyone in the MD/VA/DC area looking for an integra retrofit, I have my TSX setup for sale.
