Default HID retro in JDM non-HID headlight

I going to do the front jdm conversion (DC2) and i have decided to buy the parts individually. To cut the story short I am doing an HID retro but I have two questions before I choose headlights. Has anyone done an HID retrofit into the non-hid headlight? IF you have please post an output pic against the wall or give me some insight. I can see the difference in the lenses is that the non-HID has the lines all the way across. I wonder if that would affect output much, if any?

Second question is are the lenses glass or plastic?

Im only concerned with the JDM integra headlight, not the USA.

Contact HidIllusions.com or Customlightz.com... They are retrofit experts, they can help. I actually spoke to them about doing the same thing and they led me in the right direction.

Are you speaking from experience, an HID projector retrofit in the jdm headlights? Im not talking about a HID kit that you can buy for 100 bucks...

the real thing is going to need a retro anyways or atleast a new shield in the projector bc the oem cutoff is for right hand drive

If you havent bought your headlights yet, you might as well stack longer for the real Deal OEM HID, youll probably save in the long run in terms of reliability, especially if the install isint done right. Also, a retrofit can be a bitch to do and doesn't give you that OEM look. Whatever you decide to do, make sure you've searched the prices well on H-T for those cause Ive seen OEM HID headlights go for 800 or so on the ITR FS thread BNIB... which means you better have a hell of a good deal on your non hid headlights+hid kit to make it worth your time and effort
Good luck

I've done mine awhile back but still has it on honda tech check it out, but i can tell you don't waste your time on retrofiting the non hid to hid. The non hid lense is just not worth the effort.

here's the oem hid comparing to tsx
https://honda-tech.com/forums/lighting-107/dc2-hid-vs-tsx-hid-lottsss-pic-56k-hang-up-2444408/

here's my first attempt on tsx retrofit before i got the oem hid, havent post up pic of the finish output on the tsx retrofit.
https://honda-tech.com/forums/lighting-107/dc2-oem-hid-custom-shield-lhd-lots-pics-56k-beware-2286024/

and here's the oem hid with a little color spacing.
https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-acura-28/dc2-jdm-oem-hid-cut-off-pics-2278161/

hope it helps you on making your decision i would just save up and get a oem, it's going for like 500-700 now days. Your black housing non hid is 150 + 300 for complete retro.

Thank you all for the input...
I have no problem doing the retro,...the retro is going to be done either way... the question was would the jdm halogen lense screw the output much...most are saying yes and save up for the real thing ..but the problem is the real thing is RHD, im going to have to make it left hand drive anyways,,, but i am leaning towards the HID headlight+ s2k retro bc of the opposite output

As for the links thank you very much. Judging by the pics, the oem looks to be sharp, do you happen to have a wall shot of the oem dc2 without any mods? Just curious to see the exact sharpness bc i may decide to play with a custom shield myself if it can be as sharp as oem tsx... also, did you find oem dc2 without lense spacing to be wider or less wide than tsx? UR custom LHD shield front shot wall shot in the first link looks about how my color modded tsx did an an eg retro just without the flare...but i think i would want more of a sharper cutoff than color this time, like s2k...i liked the tsx but i want a lil more wider and def sharper

another thing i noticed is that for the HID headlight, the projector design looks similar to s2k,,may make the retro even easier
