Default HID conversion kit for Accord?

One of my Silverstar headlight burnt out in less than a year, so I'm tired of replacing it. Can anyone recommend a good plug and play HID kit (4300k-5000k)? I would like to stay around $100 budget, but I can go to $150 shipped if it's a much better quality kit. So far I'm considering this kit. I'm planning to get the 5000k version since there's no 4300k version. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...photo Have anyone have this kit, if so, how does it work out for you? Thanks.

dont buy HID kits off ebay unless they give you a brand name you can look up. a good HID kit should be more than a 100, like i seen decent ones at 140 shipped

Any specific vendor that you recommend? I want it to last at least 2 years. Thanks.

you can not use a HID bulb in a halogen housing, well you can but you will have to put your Uncle Ben sticker on and represent.
a.) it will make your headlights blinding and illegal,
b.) without the HID housing you won't get a good beam scatter(that's not wha it's called by I have a.d.d. right now) and your cut off will be crap. If you want it done right buy a set of projectors from a S2000, A4, 3 seiries, ect. anything that comes factory with HID. This will cost alot more than $150.

Do you know how much good HID bulbs cost? They are pretty expensive, last I checked they are about twice the price of the SilverStars but they will last longer.
Remember you get what you pay for.

Thanks for the reply.
1. Since both retrofitting and HID conversion kits are illegal anyways, I don't see a point in retrofitting. And if I buy aftermarket projectors, it'll make it even more obvious that I've modded my headlights.
2. I've searched a little bit and see pictures of HID conversion kits, they look pretty bright to me, much brighter than the Silverstars. But I can't find many users recommending any specific brand or vendors, that's what I'm asking about.

Anyone have experience with these two vendors? How are their kits?

I bought mine from http://www.3bspec.com. Great product and great customer service. They answer the phone almost every time I called and if they didn't they would call back within 30 minutes. They also have a 1 year no hassle warranty and free overnight shipping. I haven't had any problems with flickering or anything. They sell 4300K too and the ballast and igniter are all one thing so it won't be two different things to mount and hide

The reason no one recommends them is because, no one recommends doing a PnP kit.

The light spread may look fine to you but it's blinding to other drivers, it also creates "hot spots" where it's randomly focused light beams.

The reason for a retrofit is to focus the beam and get a good pattern

If you think cops will pull you over after a retrofit, then they'll definitely get you for a plug and play - not all of them are retarded.

The 3Bspec's price is not bad, which kit did you have? Is the 35w version bright enough, or should I go with the 55w? Thanks.

Mine is 55 watt although they didn't give me a choice when ordering. They're plenty bright to me but I also have some halogen projectors that I was used to have normal H1 bulbs in so anything is better than that. Here's some pics I took of them when I first got em in...

Sorry for the bad quality pics, I took them on my cell phone but you get the idea hopefully.

What?

The light output is good, the spread is horrible.

Look at that Hot spot in this pic. Its focused in the middle and on the ends the light is not as bright. The beam also looks very narrow and not wide

All you will get with a plug and play kit is Brightness of how it looks and not performance.

The reason you do a retro fit is because you get OEM performance lighting with
- Clear cut off
- no glare
- Wide even spread of light

With those reasons kept in mind, you will less likely get pulled over because it's not blinding the shiet out of anyone.

These are pics from fellow hid planet members. With retro fitted OEM HID projectors
Look how clean the foreground light is and how even the spread is

I don't think Shibbywhitedude's light output is bad at all, looks just like a brighter version of the factory halogen.

Just read on a site that says the 55w HID kits puts out 5000 lumens, do you think that's too bright for a low beam? I was going to get the 55w 4300k kit, but at 5000 lumens with factory reflectors might be too bright? Anyone here have a 55w kit? If so, do you think it's too bright? Thanks.

if you cant do a retrofit, just opt for the osram nightbreakers.

personally ive gone from h4 pnp kit, tossed those in favor of the nightbreakers the next day.

and now i have the tsx retrofit.

The Nightbreakers only puts out 1800 lumens, that is a lot brighter than the stock lights, but I'm thinking it still might not be enough.

Has anyone here used the Xentec brand HIDs? I found it on eBay for just $75, I'm tempted to just get it now.

I looked at some others projector retrofit projects, it's definitely above my skill level, so I'm just looking for PnP, even though the beam pattern is not idea, from the pictures I've seen, it's not too bad.

DON'T do it.

I have a 2000 Accord and I put a kit in there.

The halogen housings themselves already throw out a LOT of glare, seriously, take some time and notice all the little ghosty wisps of light on walls that these housings throw up.

Now imagine them magnified about 5x. The glare on the 6th gen headlights is AWFUL.

I have big patches of light in the front of the car and no real distribution elsewhere, and this is even after I switched back to halogen bulbs.

Putting an HID kit in there is only going to magnify these problems, throw up extra light into other people's eyes, and make your life generally miserable.

Plus setting yourself a $100 budget is pretty damn cheap, there is a reason real retros cost 500 in materials.

Seriously, don't do it. From a 6th gen owner that had them already.

I definitely wasn't looking to do a retrofit, so I researched some other options. I found that I can modify the 1700 lumens 9005 bulbs to fit the 9006 housing, and since both are helogen, the beam pattern would still be fine for reflectors. So far I really like the mod, the light output is noticeably better, of course it's not as good as a real HID conversion, but still a big improvement.
