Anyone Using LED Turn Signals?
I'm interested in using LED turn signals for the rear but was wondering what flasher/resistor I need to utilize to keep from causing the "hyper blinker" effect. Or if there is a trick to simply turning off the hyper blinker effect all together. This is for a 2000 Honda Civic EX
This is the description of the bulb I plan to use...
"1157-xLX5 Luxeon LED Bulb Super Bright 5 Watt LED 12VDC replacement bulb 15mm Dual Intensity Bayonet Base Super Wide 220 Degree Viewing Angle Brightest LED Tail Light bulb on the market - BRIGHTER THAN STOCK TAIL LAMP BULBS!"

I'm looking for a lil tech help, please dont tell me how i'm a ricer and there is no point to this modification... cause I already know that

If those are actually 5W Luxeon LEDs, they will indeed be brighter than a stock incandescent bulb. They'll also get very hot, so be careful of melted plastic (housing, wires, bulb holder, etc...).
I know there's a page out there on how to add a resistor to your blinker controller (whatever its actually called) to change the rate it cycles, but I don't have a link.
And you are a ricer.
But so I am with my clear corners and chromed amber bulbs on my DC2...

Despite the wide angle LED's, they still won't illuminate the housing like a stock bulb will, since most of the reflector is beside and behind the bulb, and there just isn't any light going in that direction with LED bulbs.
I'm guessing those heat sinks are on there to deal with the heat, but if they're just turn signal bulbs it's probably not a big deal.
As for the turn signal frequency, I'm not a fan of the idea of resistors, because what that does is turn some of the current directly into heat, which is not a good thing. An electronic flasher would be ideal, one that will flash at the same rate regardless of the load run through them.
