9012 bulb to 9006 conversion

Has anyone here done this? I've heard all you really need to do is trim the top tab out of the three tabs that stick out and it will fit it in any 9006 housing? Does anybody have pictures of when to stop trimming?

HERE is a write up, basically you trim the top tab with the plug facing down, and then you might need to trim the neck of the plastic where it angles in towards the bulb...
