3M Headlight Cleaning Kit
I was wondering if anyone had used this cleaning kit to clear there headlights from the glazed look. I have used the turtle wax and the meguiars kit and still nothing. Let me know Thanks
forget the kits, u have to sand em down...if there really bad start with 400 if not then 600 then 1200, 1500 then buff it with 1500 compound then polish...or u can do that process with out the buffing and clear coat them
yeah i was hoping i didnt have to do the whole wetsanding bit, but thats probably the best route. I was just hoping someone had some luck with these kits.
Thanks
Thanks

i used the 3m kit with the 3 types of sand paper it worked REALLY good!! lights look practically brand new, gf thought i bought new headlights =D it just takes time and DONT RUSH it!!
mixed reviews are discouraging... so i think ive decided the wet-sanding route is probably best, then use the compound, and see if i can get lamin x clear film afterward to halt anymore of this haze crap
I used the turtle wax kit with the 3 different sanding blocks and lube and polish that came with it and it came out GREAT! before I couldnt see inside the headlight now its crystal clear. But Yea I would try the 3m kit, it was next on my list if the 10 dollar turtle wax kit didnt work.
well, the 3m kit, really depends if you sand it well enough.. I guess I didn't take enough time to sand it (I used my hand to sand instead of a drill)... You can basically go buy your own supplies.. get a 500grit, 700-900 grit, 2500-3000 grit.. and then sand it.. for polish.. toothpaste might work lol.. i bought the kit just for the sandpaper basically.. it comes with 6 500 grit, 4 800 grits, and 1 3000 grits..

i have restored many different sets of headlights. i will tell you what i use. this is the best setup i have found yet. get wetsand paper. you will need 1000 grit, 1500 and 2000. use those first finishing with 2000.
get a mothers mini buff ball and a drill. if you do these next steps by hand, it will not come out as good.
buff with regular rubbing compound. i use 3m.
then buff with mothers mag and aluminum polish. it sounds crazy but it works very well.
finish up with plast-X.
re-buff with plast-x until your happy.
if you do this correctly, they should look very close to brand new and all the yellowing will be gone. they will look worse after u sand them but wait until the final step.
