K24 drivetrain size/shape
I'm after the approximate size of the K24 engine and transmission. To keep things simple, it can be treated as a box, H x W x D, and same for the transmission. The other important numbers I need are where the axles exit, relative to the side and bottom of the drivetrain.
I know this is a lot to ask, but I'm hoping that someone has a drivetrain out of their car so it would be easier to measure.
Oh and while I'm asking, I may as well ask for weight too, though I assume it's about 450lbs complete.
Thanks!

a few pms from kb58:
Does "wide" mean left-to-right as installed in a car? Also, does the depth (front to back) include accessaries like the alternator or exhaust? And lastly, how high from the bottom is the axle-line?
Another way to approach this is to just measure the overall engine compartment. That might do me for now, other than knowing where the axle comes out relative to the bottom of the pan.
I'm trying to get an idea of the overall size of the complete ready-to-run drivetrain.

Wow, didn't check this thread for a few days.
Stinkycheezmonky:
About the tranny, my current thinking is a 5sp K24 Accord tranny. Because with the low weight and anticipated power output, having a sixth gear seems like it would waste time.
Nikos:
I can use a junk engine and tranny, but since I never see them for sale I never considered it. If anyone has one I'd think about it, but after I pay shipping it makes me wonder why not just get a good condition engine instead. (Of course, then it'll sit around the garage for years, depreciating, cylinder walls rusting, valve springs taking a set, but I digress).
To keep the work involved in measuring a drivetrain to a minimum, that's why I asked that it be treated as a box. Overall length, width, and height (including all accessaries). If I have that, along with the driveshaft location, that's good enough for now. What I still need are numbers for a transmission.
I realize this isn't accurate, but if I'm within an inch at this point, that's enough. I have to get it all drawn up before moving to physical parts.

Good point. The picture from Nikos could serve me well to take dimensions from!

Good point, and so it is. I have the K-series Transmission table from K20.org which is very helpful. The K24A3 Accord has a 4.389 final drive, as does the K20A3 base RSX. I'll have to run some numbers to see how the slightly higher 4.764 from the K20A3 Civic will work.
With 1300lbs and... um, a lot of power, I don't need a peaky turbo engine and six gears. I also hear(say) that second gear in the 6sp boxes is weak, though I wouldn't expect so at the lower power I'll be running. Maybe a very mild turbo

It's an all-new car, not Kimini - Kimini is done! I'm currently designing the new one, named Midlana, and the request for dimensions is for the CAD work.
So it'll be a while...

No, lighter, simpler, cheaper, and faster to build. I'm also writing another book, this one will be a cookbook on how to build this exact car. Honda drivetrains are great donors...
Regarding transmissions, anyone know the codes for the cars these go in?:
02-06 Base RSX
03-06 Accord
02-05 Civic Si -> EP3 Si
I know the last one, but what are the others? Thanks. It makes it easier to search for them. These trannys seem to be hard to find...

Know this is a old post. But does anyone have the measurements from the bell housing flange to the outter of the timing cover or bell housing to the outer of the crank pulley ?
