Default K20z3 overheating

I have a 1992 cx hatch with a k20z3 swap. Lately with the summer heat my coolant temps have been going up to 228 F. Most of the time I turned it off very soon after and let it cool off. But like 2-3 times I was on the freeway so I had to just crank the heater and wait for it to go down. I’m hearing people on the forums say that 220 F is considered super hot so I’m wondering if I’ve caused any damage having it run at 228 F. As far as I see the car runs fine and there’s no white smoke out of the exhaust indicating a blown head gasket. It only over heats when I’m in traffic or off the freeway. I already know it’s an insufficient cooling issue because I’m running a half radiator. I just want to know if I may have caused any engine damage or things to look out for.
