I found a cheap z3 head what are the possibilities? unfortunately I.have a ep3 civic. Any ideas?

 

so you wanna know if you can drop the Z3 head onto your EP3's k20a3 engine I assume?

 

Isn't the z3 from the 09-current TSX? If it is, it only has VTEC on the intake side and to me personally, it wouldn't be worth going through the effort.

 

The k20z3's have true vtec. They are actualyl one of the better k sereis engines and the heads on them are really good.


Not sure if its swappable iwht what you have, but the k20z3 engines come from (well in canada anyway) the acura CSX Type S, they also come equipped with short geared lsd transmission. In the states, i beleive those engiens come in the civic si.

 

It also comes in the Canadian Si FYI...

 

Ignore my first post.. I've been reading about K24's all day and didn't realize your post was talking about a K20. That one's from the 06-11 SI and the CSX-S. If you search you'll see that plenty of people ask this same question, but I can't find anyone who actually did it without swapping out the crank.

yeah there's two "z3" heads, probably shouldn't relate to them as 'z3' to eliminate confusion.

K20Z3 = 06-11 civic Si engine

K24Z3 = 09+ TSX engine (which has a wack head with one big single exhaust port and single lobed exhaust cam)
