Default Tech question harmonic balancer

I have a 2001 Honda Civic EX 4DR 1.7 L auto trans. The harmonic balancer is rusty beyond belief. I want to replace it with a machined aluminum pulley. I know the weight is over 4 and 1/2 pounds less. I wonder if it would give me a little faster pickup when I hit the accelerator. Not racing this thing but just some more pep on the road. Also will less mass rotating on the front of the crank affect the idle of the engine. I was warned about replacing a stock flywheel on a manual transmission with a lightweight one years ago for street use. Something about the advantages of racing but disadvantages of street use with the lighter flywheel. No expert in physics but could use some tips. The balancer has to be replaced. Any advice??? Thanks Mike
