Default New On Here and looking for Wisdom

My Name is Boyd. I drive a GSR Integra but also have an 02 Civic with a blown engine and transmission. I am in process of ordering a JDM engine and SLXA transmission. I am looking for wisdom. I see there is not any definitive threads on the issue.

I know my Car has a BMXA Transmission in it and I plan to put a SLXA in it. Has anyone done this sucessfully? Please tell me what to swap now so I do not have to pull the tranny after the shop does it wrong. They do not know what I am talking about when I mention the BMXA and SLXA transmission issue to them.

anyway thanks for any help i get!

Here is where I am right now. My engine and transmission are bad so I bought the whole JDM packagae from that place in texas on ebay. They send me one with a rod through the block behind the ac plate. I make them send me another. I am going to run jdm engine, transmission harness and all sensors. I am talking to one guy on here that just did it and its running without cel.

It will work because after the key reflash its basically a jdm car. I do not know if you need the engine and transmission thats the issue it looks like the computer for the american d17a2 engine does not control the jdm transmission very well. that is why they say for the transmission swap you have to use all the american sensors.

Is your civic made in the usa or in canada?

I contacted a jdm shop in cali that sells only jdm motor/trannys and he said as long as your first vin # is 1 (which is american made) and you have the sequence P, R, N, D, D3, 2 then he can match the SLXA tranny using a pair of pliers to count the number of clicks on the SLXA tranny. He said the magic number is 5 clicks and it'll work fine with no CEL lights. He also stated he has sold plenty SLXA's using this method with no returns or complaints. He was so sure, he'll refund my money if there was a CEL light too or if it didn't work properly. Basically, I don't want to go through the whole changing ecu/flashing issue. U think he is BSing me?

I can not say for sure. I would probably see if he is willing to fix the check engine light for free if it comes on after the swap.

Here is my.......maybe theory I guess I would say because I do not know. The guys that sell the JDM engines on ebay all say swap the sensors if you have a USA made civic like yours, and do not try it if you have a Canada made Civic like mine. If I was you I would pull the trigger, it may be a pain in the *** but you will be able to make it work.
