New here from Colorado
I'm a Ford guy, raised on 'em, turned my first wrenches on 'em. However, I now run an '02 Liberty after selling my trusted '95 Explorer owned for 14 years (long in the tooth at 209K, Liberty was crazy cheap and super low miles). Partner is a foreign-car girl; had an '05 Altima when we met, but that got totaled a couple of weeks ago and after getting more money from the insurance company than we'd bargained for, set our sights on a Pilot, found one she could afford, so... here I am.
I'm the mechanic in the house, as well as the one that knows enough about damn near everything around here to be the first to try to fix whatever's broken. This is a blessing and a curse.
Used to be a professional studio/touring musician and recording engineer/producer. Also did time as a broadcast maintenance engineer. Through it all I've been (and continue to be) a commercial photographer. I've also recently started making custom furniture from reclaimed materials and I've found a great market for that so my pieces sell for good money, which is encouraging.
Life rarely gets boring. Aggravating, yes. Boring, no.
Anyway, I'm really starting to enjoy the Pilot. Surprisingly easy to work on, and this one is in damned good shape. The V6 has some serious get-up-and-go... wish the Liberty could spark like that. Funny to think that when I was a kid, the notion of a car having 100K on it was a death sentence for the vehicle ("mileage exceeds mechanical limits" read the titles), but these days we jumped on a car because it "only" had 155K on it.
I'm not a 'performance' car guy. Just like keeping 'em running as best as possible. That said, I enjoy rat rods and such, with patina (I'm more into the overall look than the specs under hood). I have neither time, inclination, nor funds to tweak/trick out a vehicle. Just not my thing.
For the most part, though, I do like working on 'em.
