Default New guy with a terrible problem

My name is Bill and I love the CRV as I have 3 a 97,2000 and 2001. I will tell you about the 2000. Whenever I need to use the rear wheels on my 2000 crv 5spd the rear end will hop and shudder like crazy to the point I cannot even use it but, get this, I can go backwards in AWD forever without a single problem. I can turn sharply going forward without a problem but, if I go go backwards while turning sharply it binds terribly until I fear something will break. I tell you I have racked my brain on this issue untill I am totally clueless. I have also changed fluids with Honda fluids in rear and front. Any help would be appreciated. PS- It has 116k on it and I changed the rear differencial once only to get the same result and the shudder may be stronger. Currently I have the propellor shaft out of it and the carrier bearing seems good and the u-joints are tight but maybe too tight, I am not sure. Has anyone ever rebuilt one of these as I was thinking of rebuilding the one I took out. I can and do drive it daily without a problem as long as I don't need 4WD and I am carefull backing up.
