Lurker No More
Hey guys. I've been lurking honda-tech and many other automotive forums for five plus years. I haven't been at all recently so I just thought I'd jump back on to refresh my memory on the Honda stuff and thought why not introduce myself. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say my real name, but most people call me Beaver so I don't think it matters anyways
. **THIS NEXT LITTLE BIT MIGHT MAKE SOME ACCORD OWNERS UPSET** I purchased my first Honda a few years ago; it was an 1984 Accord and the odometer had stopped working at 295,000 miles. I bought it for a local demo derby, but I beat on it around town (8000+ rpm shifts, e-brake rips, etc) and had a blast before entering it in the derby. Up until then I had always been into/ had diesels (Mercedes, Toyota, Cummins) so I was relatively new to the "honda game" at that point. I still was not totally hooked on Hondas until I got to ride in very fast 650hp+ CRX. I work as a fabricator and was around when a guy brought in a 2nd gen CRX for a cage. I recognized the car from a Phoenix street racing video posted by 1320video on Youtube and made sure I asked for a ride after the cage was built. That ride-along was what got hooked on high revving, boosted, and light weight FWD cars; the extremely brutal hit of FWD power was way more thrilling than any of the 800-1000hp RWD cars I had been in. So after that (last September) I impulse bought a '97 hatch with a B16A2 swap. Turned out to be a car built out of every spare part the guy had in his garage and I ended up spinning a bearing on my way home from school a couple days later :/ . I pulled the motor and trans after I limped it into the driveway and haven't touched it since. I had intentions to find another crank and build the motor for boost, but between going to college and my 50 other projects this one got put on hold. Recently this past March, I bought a 1984 Honda Shuttle that was in mint condition, though it had 275,000 miles. I've decided to swap the ls-vtec turbo motor I have been putting together for awhile now into the Wago instead of the hatch like I had originally planned. I'm in the middle of putting together a compound turbo Toyota diesel engine for my 1984 Toyota pick up; therefore, it will be a little bit before I really go crazy on the Wago. I'm not sure if anyone would be interested in a build thread of the Wago on this forum, but I will create one if at least one person is interested. I will probably make a thread on the Red Pepper Racing forum regardless. If you made it this far, I am sorry I wrote so much, but I wanted to give a quick yet detailed run down of my "honda game" beginnings.
Let me know if you're interested in an ls-vtec turbo Civic Shuttle build thread or want pictures of the few projects I mentioned above (I have a lot more I didn't talk about to cut down on this post's length
).
