What’s up everyone! I’ve been a Honda fan for the past couple years, owned a 2001 ES1 d17a1 5speed too. Sadly, the engine let go and just never fixed it. I just recently bought this 98 d16y7 sedan auto with 128,000 miles. Not sure if it’s the ej6 or 8. I plan to 5speed swap with a stage1 clutch, and I have plans to turbo it. A big reason I’m on here to get some pointers for that such reason! I want to put a t28 on it, but, I don’t want to run much boost, just looking for a little extra zip for my new daily driver! Maybe 160hp give or take. It’s my first turbo build and I want to make sure I do this properly the first time and hopefully not second if I have to.. haha. All help is appreciated and a big thanks to all that give a lending word.

A swap alone can put you in the 160hp area.

It’s something I have thought of, interested in going turbo though. Is there issues I would run into when going turbo?

When a swap alone will allow you to meet your hp goals, “going turbo” seems kind of a waste.

Since you are going to swap from auto to manual, just get a whole B-series swap (engine, transmission, ECU, etc) that will match your hp goals from the start. You could build the engine stronger so that it would last longer with forced induction.

When “going turbo” you have 3 options:
-fast
-reliable
-cheap
and you can only pick 2 of those.

If I end up putting a turbo on I would mainly focus towards reliability, since she’s going to be my daily. How easy is a b16 swap and how much would it run me? I’m guessing around the same as just putting a turbo on the d16?
