Icon7 Introduction

Hi! I am a retired Air Force jet technician for 20 years. I worked on the now retired F106 as well as the very still in service F16. I worked as a Fire Control technician. Laymen's terms it was the system a got the missile to hit the target. I am now spending my time working on various cars, flipping some, and keeping my wife's 2006 CRV on the road, along with my daughter's 2012 CRV. I have the pleasure of having a 2 post lift in my shop - now very little crawling around the floor, I'm too old for that..... Looking forward to sharing and gathering information and help on some challenges that always happen when you work on cars.

Welcome to the board. You have obviously been retired for a while now... Delta Darts haven't been flown by actual pilots since the late eighties... and drone service ended in 1998 !!!

Its been a couple years alright - started working on them in Minot in 1976, spent 8 years there, then joined Montana Air Guard, which also had the 106, then, they brought in the F16, and then used the old Darts as targets down in Florida. I wonder how many, if any, are in the bone yard. I actually spent 8 years active duty at DM in Tucson, that bone yard is pretty impressive. Montana Air Guard had an Alert Detachment there with the F106, then the F16 on 5 minute alert. Retired in 1996. Been self employed since then, now, pretty much fully retired I guess. You must be kinda an aircraft guy, most people not aware of the drone program. That's where all the F4's went down from the Vietnam era. I was TDY to Tyndall AFB for William Tell back in the 80's when I was with the Spit'n Kittens. Watched some of the F102 drones takeoff. Then our guys were trying to shoot them down....

I love planes... especially jets... and I love to fly. My car and gun hobbies are expensive enough... I don't think I will ever get to scratch the plane itch.

A got a ride in a F106, T33, and F16
They don’t ride as smooth as they look from the Ground! Especially the F16 - but, it was a great ride.
