Default Hello From South Eastern PA

Hey everyone!

My name is Jon. I recently bought a clapped-out 1994 Civic as a beater for my girlfriend. I've always been a domestic guy (i know, i know...) but i have gained an appreciation through her current daily and my beater. I have years of experience tinkering with cars, and I always have too many projects going on. So my beater is a 1994 Civic EX with the 1.6 VTEC backed by an auto. I was told that the car had overheating issues and most likely a bad head gasket, broken wheel stud, and a missing battery when I bought it. To drive it home I ratchet strapped the battery from my mud truck to the passenger shock tower and had to run an open throttle body. I threw the hood on my roof to help with cooling and so the battery would "fit". Long story short, it blew the rad cap on the way back and over heated every ten min.s for a seventy mile trip. Upon pulling the head, I found that the whole top end was finger tight with a replaced head gasket, three stripped valve cover bolts and three stripped head bolts. Thus far i have cleaned the whole top end, polished a few things, helicoiled the valve cover bolts, and hoped the head would survive without three bolts until I built a project B20B. No such luck. It blows coolant out the overflow under load. Eh well.

I look forward to interacting with you all!
Jon
