Hello out there. This is my first posting. We are pulling our hair out with a problem with fast idle. Our 1982 1300 FE carberatur was rebuilt and after we brought it home, the idle is simple wonky. Cold start it idles at about 3000. ( It sounds like it's going to take off for outter space). But once it warms up it idles down to about 750 ish. The mechanic says it's supposed to idle so hi. BUT when you turn on the head lights... the idle shoots up to 3000. turn the lights off. drops down to 750. Turn on the rear window defroster... idles jumps up to 300 again. HUH? Anyone have experience with this vintage design?
Thanks in advance,
B Ray

Can you unplug the electric choke and see if the idle still changes from electrical items being turned off/on?
