Default Wiring Question(Searched)

Alright check this out fellas, I have a problem that I could use some help with please. I did a tranny swap and my buddy who I thought was more knowledgeable than me when it comes too electrical decided to just start cutting wires trying to do who knows what. When he cut wires he disabled my speedo and my temperature gauge wire or whatever controls the needle inside the gauge cluster. So basically I have no Speedo hooked up and my temperature is always stuck at the bottom. So my question is this how many wires does it take to hookup the speed sensor?? Any diagrams?? or whatever useful knowledge could be shed. Also please the same for whatever controls the engine temp also. On another note, I have a shitty *** idle, I searched and my guesses are it's either the FITV or the fuel filter. But I had a question though since my cars temp gauge isn't hooked up is the ECU reading the car as cold and therefore holding a low idle cuz it thinks its not warmed up or does it not matter if the gauge isn't working?? How many wires is it to hook up the VSS, 3 or 4?? Should I be throwing a constant check engine light??? I throw but thats after I already start driving and its not constant.

thanks dude I appreciate the effort but yeah I already know about that posting and unfortunately the original post didn't shed light on my problem though. I think I'll PM poison and ask him some questions. Thanks though Dude.
